CONVERSATION QUESTIONS

The below questions serve as a guide to conversation.  Select those which you feel will spark conversation, depth and growth in understanding.

  1. Which of the boundaries myths do you relate to?
    • I’m being selfish or disobedient, I’m afraid, I’m going to hurt someone, boundaries mean I’m angry, (the person) has done so much for me – I have to say yes, boundaries are permanent.
  2. What is the difference between hurting someone and harming them?
  3. Are healthy boundaries used to control others?  Why or why not?
  4. How can you demonstrate the fruits of the spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control) while setting healthy boundaries?
  5. Have you set any boundaries recently? How did you communicate them?  How did it feel?
  6. What are your take-aways from tonight?

PRAYER

(Encourage others to pray, gaining confidence in public prayer in a safe environment)

EXAMPLE PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, thank you for this time together. Thank you for bringing us together to learn more about what healthy boundaries are and what they are not. We aim to live fully into the freedom, grace and love that you have masterfully designed for us and setting boundaries is one of the ways you help us do this. May we put into practice what we learn, that we may draw closer to living the lives you intend for us. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.
