WHY do you worship God? Have you ever thought about it?

ROMANS 12:1 NIV Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

WORSHIP is giving everything you are - spirit, soul and body - to the glorification of God. It is taking your time, talent and treasure and giving it to the complete service of God’s will. It is the willful surrender of your attitudes, motives, personal agendas, bents towards image management, and pride as an offering to God simply because He is worthy.

Worship at its heart is God-centered. Worship is about God. It's not about you or me. It's not centered on human need. It’s not contingent of human feeling or mood. It’s not about what our circumstances or disappointments of the moment might be. It’s not even about what we get out of it. Worship, etymologically, is worth-ship; at its roots we are esteeming God’s worth.

Worship is not about giving God a percentage of my heart along with the various other pleasures competing for my attention. It's not about my preferred style. It's not about my personal tastes. It’s not about my personality. In worship we gather and encounter the presence of the Living God, and we declare his greatness and his goodness and his glory with our heart and soul and mind and strength. 

In Scripture we discover what God finds pleasurable in our worship. So our worship is to simply prefer God’s pleasure to ours; though God sees to it that our reciprocal pleasure, a mysterious pleasure, is exceeded. God is seeking such to worship Him. 

Below are some of the things God derives pleasure from (all enumerated many times in Scripture). It may not be your initial preferences. Because it is worship - where you meet with God and connect deeply with Him - it will become your greatest delight.

  • Worship Him from deep within your spirit

  • Worship Him authentically, honestly and transparently

  • Worship Him with shouts of praise, celebration and ravings

  • Worship Him with extended, upraised hands

  • Worship Him with dancing, joyful spinning and showing excessive emotion

  • Worship Him with verbal expressions of praise, adorations and thankfulness

  • Worship Him with tender, quiet, still and contemplative focus on God’s person

  • Worship Him with the extravagant value towards His Word

We were created to worship God. There is nothing more mysterious, wise and medicinal than worshipping God in His preferred style. Worship is a life-giving, heart-felt activity that stirs from deep within. It touches the core of who we are, connecting us with the One we worship. Thank God today for all that He has done during this great Awakening Fast!

 

PRAYER:


Dear Lord God, I surrender my affections, emotions and attention to You. I want to offer You the worship that You desire. I give You my praise; vocally, physically, emotionally, expressively because that is what You like. I want to give Your heart pleasure. In Jesus’ Name.

 

PRAYER PLAN:

If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody). 3 Even if I dole out all that I have [to the poor in providing] food, and if I surrender my body to be burned or in order that I may glory, but have not love (God’s love in me), I gain nothing.

4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].

9 For our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect), and our prophecy (our teaching) is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect). 10 But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded). 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.

12 For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been fully and clearly known and understood [by God]. 13 And so faith, hope, love abide [faith—conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope—joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love—true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.

 

DECLARATION:

I yield my tongue to the Holy Spirit and therefore He is taming it (James 3:8). He is helping me to bridle my tongue and therefore setting the course of my life (James 3:4). I am confident that my God can take the promptings of my spirit to speak languages I have never learned (Acts 2:4). I will speak and the Holy Spirit will make a language out of it (Acts 2:4). I will speak of the wonderful works of God as I do (Acts 2:11).

Did you know God wants to speak languages through you? Did you know that a devotional spiritual language could profoundly impact your whole life? 

In Scripture there is an invaluable divinely relational resource available to the believer, which at its core, is a pure phenomena! This phenomenon is both mysterious and miraculous. Today’s topic is on “spiritual languages,” or more to the nomenclature of the Bible, “speaking in unknown tongues.” There are several occasions in the Book of Acts where we see the early church folk communing with God through this blessed and bonding medium.

“Speaking in unknown tongues” can be an inflamed topic that conjures up a plethora of images. For some people, those images are intensely positive, and grace-filled. For others, the images are polar opposites, images of excessive, weird and crazy outbursts of expression.

All believers can agree that the first century Christians had a phenomenon of “tongues,” or “spiritual languages,” that was powerful, miraculous and beautiful. Fundamentally, to “speak in unknown tongues” meant that a believer spoke in languages of "men and angels" (1 Cor 13:1), as the Holy Spirit supernaturally gave them the inspired utterance. It was a distinct communication directly to God (1 Cor 14:2). It was a means for expanded worship to God (Acts 2:11). It was a means for the first century believers to pray out God’s plan for their lives and the church (mysteries) (1 Cor 14:2). It was a means for building up, charging and edifying oneself spiritually (1 Cor 14:4). It was a means for a spiritual refreshing and spiritual rest (Is 28:9-12). And it was so much more. It was so profoundly important that early church leaders, the Apostles, would say things like this:

●     1 Corinthians 14:18 KJV I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

●     1 Corinthians 14:5 KJV I would that ye all spake with tongues

●     1 Corinthians 14:39 KJV Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

So really? What would it be like to speak in this supernatural utterance?

Words like “miraculous,” “phenomenon,” “tongues of fire ”and “utterance given by the Holy Spirit” can conjure up uncertain ideas, many of which could be incorrect.

To speak in unknown tongues is actually very normal and ordinary, in the same way being led by God's Spirit is. The prompting is as subtle as the nudge we get to share our faith with a friend, nothing dramatic, just a still small urging. You then have to speak out the faith-prompted inner thoughts. At first it feels similar to the reticence about sharing your faith or witnessing to a friend. Everything from fear, to vulnerability and the stoic desire to not appear foolish rushes into us. When a person is initially seeking the promptings by the Holy Spirit to speak an unknown tongue, they sense Him subtly urging them to speak a syllable, and to say a phrase of syllables. Once they step in faith they have that utterance to access again on demand. The Spirit is ready to give you the utterance even now.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I desire You and ALL of You. I ask you to fill me with Your Holy Spirit fresh and new right now. I ask you to give me the courage and insight to speak in these “unknown tongues” or “spiritual languages.” My part is to trust You to make a language out of the words I am prompted to speak. Your part is to make the language the “tongues of men and angels.” Help me to yield my thoughts and tongue fully to the Holy Spirit. I receive. In Jesus’ Name.

What if you lived your whole life and after entering eternity you realized that the Holy Spirit was a person, a person Who wanted to fill you with His joys and His power? How would this impact your present life? How many struggles, confusion and suffering persist because of this one reality?

Matthew 3:11-12 NIV (John the Baptist said) I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

What would it be like to be “baptized in the Holy Spirit of God?” In other words, what would it be like to be “immersed, saturated, to be fully pervaded, and thoroughly permeated with the Holy Spirit?" This baptism depicts vividly the idea of a person, or an assembly, being entirely enveloped in the reality of the Holy Spirit. Since to be baptized in water means literally to be immersed in, plunged under, drenched or soaked with, then to be “baptized with the Holy Spirit” can mean no less than that. 

The idea of being "BAPTIZED" in God's Spirit points to exteriority; that is to say the whole person is outwardly and dynamically pervaded by God. In water immersion no part of the body is left untouched. Everything goes under. So with the Spirit baptism, the whole being of a person – spirit, soul and body – is imbued with the Spirit of God. Expanding this idea, the church body of believers in community, of those who are so being baptized, is profoundly affected in the community's total life. Both individual and community are touched in every area by the presence and power of the living God. 

The idea of being “filled” or “full” of the Holy Spirit points to interiority; that is to say, the whole person is inwardly pervaded by the Holy Spirit. Even as the sound of a mighty wind filling all the house (which signifies every room, nook and corner), so is every aspect of individual and communal life  touched. The image is one of the Spirit of God moving throughout like wind or fire until all barriers are breached. This is total penetration with the Holy Spirit. All areas of one’s being – spirit, soul and body – are engulfed. The conscious and the subconscious depths of a person becomes sensitized to the divine presence and activity of God. This is where God has flooded ones being with His presence.

These descriptive terms depict various aspects of the Holy Spirit as the gift from the Father.  This GIFT is for EVERYONE.

Acts 1:4-5 NKJV And being assembled together with them, (Jesus) He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;  5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."   

Acts 2:1-4 NIV When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 

Ask God to give you intense, coveting desires for the Holy Spirit’s fillings/immersions. Let a lack of desire for Him be an indictment, knowing that desire can be changed with a simple surrender and reflection on these ideas in the devo. May the Holy Spirit blast you with desire and fillings today!!

 

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I set apart my spiritual prejudices and open myself to Your greater works. I want to want the Holy Spirit with the intensity of fire. I ask You to give me the desires deposited deep within my heart. And fill me, immerse me, saturate me and permeate me with Your Holy Spirit. I will not resist any of His works, gifts and transformations. Align my will with Yours. In Jesus’ Name.

 

PRAYER PLAN:

●     Holy Spirit Baptism for LP – That EVERY LP ATTENDER would experience consistent immersions in the Holy Spirit of God.

●     LP World Missions - That EVERYONE would burn with desire to see all people saved.

And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

 

DECLARATION:

I receive and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit as promised by Jesus at His ascension (Acts 1:8). I set my affections on the Holy Spirit’s leadership (Rom 8:14, 16). Today I will live as a Christian possessed by God the Holy Spirit; gifted, wise, righteous, empowered in all things. For greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4). The works that Jesus did will I do also and greater works because of the person and power of the Holy Spirit that abides in me (John 14:12).

God wants to partner with YOU in relationship to execute His supernatural gifts, through YOU, to someone on His heart!!

Most Christian assessing their gifts limit their focus to their God-given ministerial or motivational giftings. But God wants to partner with you in Operational Gifts. Operational Gifts are available to all believers as circumstances, opportunities and God's will arises in a moment. This is where the spontaneous sovereign will of God engages us to perform miracles through us. A person does not "own" Operational Gifts as a part of their personality or make-up (yet ministerial and motivational gifts ARE a part of their personality). OPERATIONAL GIFTS ONLY HAPPEN AS GOD WILLS.

Paul speaks specifically of these operational gifts below:

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of the one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each man, just as he determines. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

God wants to do this much more often than we give Him access to. God wants to partner with YOU.

There are three categories of these spontaneous miracle giftings:  1- Power to KNOW things, 2- Power to DO things, 3- Power to SAY things.

  • POWER TO KNOW THINGS: There are three operational gifts that give us supernatural power to know things. The Word of Knowledge is the ability to supernaturally gain insight, perception or inward knowing of certain facts in the mind of God pertaining to issues that are past or present, and that a person would not have any other way of knowing (the word of wisdom pertains to issues that are future). The Word of Wisdom is the ability to receive a revelation of God’s wisdom, purpose and direction in a situation and relates to future issues. The Discerning of Spirits is the ability to see the spirit realm, enabling a person to recognize if something is divine, human or satanic (this is not discernment of people’s motives, attitudes or condition).

  • POWER TO DO THINGS: There are three operational gifts that give us supernatural power to do things. The Gift of Special Faith is the ability to believe God’s promises in an extraordinary way, never doubting but remaining confident of God’s provision and protection regardless of insurmountable obstacles, and beyond human effort. The Gifts of Healings are the ability to be God’s supernatural and miraculous intermediary for curing people without the use of natural means. The Gift of the Working of Miracles is the ability to perform supernatural interventions, which are perceived by observers to have no natural basis, so as to glorify God and prove that He is real.

  • POWER TO SAY THINGS: There are three operational gifts that give us supernatural power to SAY things. The Gift of (Simple) Prophecy is the ability to communicate truth through inspired speech in a timely and relevant manner for strengthening, encouragement and comfort. The Gift of (Ministry) Tongues is the ability to speak a spontaneous message from God, in a language the intermediary does not know, to a person or group of people. The Gift of Interpretation of (Ministry) Tongues is the ability to interpret a message of one who is speaking in miracle tongues into the language of the listeners as a message from God.

Stir up your desire before God to personally work with the Lord in these operational gifts.

1 Corinthian 12:31 KJV But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

 

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I covet earnestly these “best gifts.” I ask you to burn a fire within my soul to have these operative through my everyday life. Help me know how to operate in these gifts. I believe You want to minister these through me more than I could possibly want You to. So help me learn how to increase their manifestations in and through my life. From this, help me see aspects of your nature and character that inspire awe before You. In Jesus’ Name.

 

PRAYER PLAN:

●     Holy Spirit Gifts for LP – That EVERY LP ATTENDER would experience consistent encounters of God’s Spirit manifesting “operational” gifts through them.

●     LP Evangelism - That EVERYONE would burn with desire to see friends come to Christ.

20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.

 

DECLARATION:

I receive the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of my understanding being enlightened. My mind is renewed to operational gifts of the Holy Spirit by the Word of God (Ephesians 1:17-18; Romans 12:2). I covet earnestly the best gifts (1 Cor 12:31). I know His voice and the voice of a stranger I won’t follow, therefore I am not afraid of failure (Jn 10:5).

DEVO: 

One of the profound things we see in Scripture is that we are to SEEK OUT, BEHOLD and acknowledge God’s “splendor and beauty” that is already in our lives.

Psalm 149:5 AMP Let the saints be joyful in the glory and beauty [which God confers upon them]; let them sing for joy upon their beds.

There is a direct correlation between our sense of wonder AND a heart nurtured in thankfulness. To return to a wonder-filled life, return to extravagant thankfulness.

To help you to think about what you already have to be thankful for consider the good that is already present in your life. Imagine losing some of the things that you take for granted. Now imagine after having lost these things, for a considerable amount of time, then being restored to them. Think of the wonder, thrill and awe you would begin to feel about the most simple of things in your life.

God compels us to be thankful for what glory and beauty is ALREADY in our lives. This nurtures our hearts before Him!! God isn’t compelling us to just placate Him with nice words. God encourages us to get radical about our appreciation for what He has already done. Have a thankfest, a thankfulness party!!

Giving an obligatory or concessional “thank you” is considered to be a devaluation of God. The word used in Scripture is being "despising" of God. To despise God we simply under esteem and count things common. Thankfulness esteems the extravagance of an ALL-LOVING God, boasting in even the smallest of things before Him. Today move your heart affectionately before God FOR the multitudes of small things He is ALREADY doing.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, Thank You! I ask You to help me notice, become aware and to celebrate those things that are already in my life. I ask that Your Spirit would inspire me in creative imagination as I assess those things I have in health, material blessings, relationships, spiritual knowledge and so many other things. Help me renew my mind with these amazing things You have done in my life. In Jesus’ Name.

DEVO: 

Did you know God “treasures” people who don’t yet know Him? Did you know God “treasures” the hurting, wounded and neglected?

Matthew 13:44 NKJV [Jesus said] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

The treasure is a metaphor of people on God’s heart!

At LifePointe, we are inspiring a lifetime of unforgettable encounters with God. God wants us to have an encounter, so that we can become an encounter, so that others can have an encounter. A Treasure Hunt is about learning to live a naturally-supernatural Kingdom lifestyle, in which miracles, physical healing and inspired encouragements set people free as you walk your path through daily life. These can become “normal” unforgettable occurrences, as we release the presence and power of the Kingdom of God in the people we know and meet every day.

In daily times of loving the Lord through prayer, ask God for words of knowledge about people’s names, clothing, appearance and prayer need(s). These are "Clues" about people God has on His heart for you to encourage during the day. A major purpose of being led of the Holy Spirit is to be used by God in helping others. In fact, the more you practice these kinds of treasure hunting encouragements to people, the more you will find your perception of God's voice will become clearer and clearer.

Ask God for words of knowledge about these things, or locations and other unusual things. Then write these down on a paper called your "Treasure Map" and go to the locations on your Map to find “treasures.” The “treasures” are people who correspond in some way to the clues that you have written down. When you find someone, show him or her your map and ask if you can pray for him/her. You will be amazed at how many people will be unusually encouraged by your encounters with them. Many people will be saved, healed or greatly touched by God’s love through this kind of inspired evangelism.

The best way to grow in an interwoven choreography with the Holy Spirit is to live in a dynamic fellowship, expecting Him to use you. What is amazing is that the people you minister to will be the laboratory for which you find greater awe and wonder before God. Your own capacity to hear from God will grow exponentially. It will be as though you observed the heart of God first hand as He anoints you to love someone deeply.

You will see an increase in divine appointments and divine encounters with God – in your everyday life! As you step out and take risks, you will find countless-undreamed of treasures that will cause incredible rejoicing on earth and in Heaven.

Take a run at it today. It is your time for giving and getting unforgettable encounters with God!

 

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I know You have the broken, hurting and suffering on Your heart. Give me Your heart for them too. Open my eyes to see who You see. Give me courage to trust You with a Treasure Hunt process. I pray for boldness to execute it. And then I ask you to let me be affirmed in following You! In Jesus Name.

DEVO: 

God wants to have your heart intimately “attached” to Him! God wants a relational bond with you!

Bonding is the heart’s ability to establish an emotional attachment to another person. It’s the ability to relate to another on the deepest level. When two people have a bond with each other, they share their deepest thoughts, dreams, and feelings with each other with no fear that the other person will reject them. An attachment bond is more than a rational interchange; it is an emotional connection.

Bonding is one of the most basic and foundational ideas in life and the universe. It is a basic human need. God created us with a hunger for relationship—for relationship with Him and with our fellow people. At our very core we are relational beings.

Without a solid, bonded relationship, the human soul will become mired in emotional problems. The soul cannot prosper without being connected to God, and then others. No matter what characteristics we possess, or what accomplishments we amass, without solid emotional connectedness, without bonding to God and other humans, we will suffer sickness of the soul. 

Jesus said, "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser… 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing… 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples…  11 "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.  (John 15:1, 4-5, 7-8, 11 NKJV)."

The word "abide" comes from the Greek word "meno" which means "investing time and nearness, or without any gaps in distance, or constancy of being present." When we spend time in God's presence – praying, worshipping, journaling, centering, reading Scripture, prophesying, preaching to ourselves, etc. – we close the nearness gaps. Our hearts can become experientially bonded with Christ's heart. When this happens, this union begins to shape our beliefs, thoughts, feelings, biological systems and then our behaviors. There is something indescribable about how these bondings with Christ settle our hearts down, trim off the fears/anxieties and fill us up with hope, joy, peace and love.

It is foolish of us to think God will make this happen without us initiating time and nearness of heart towards Him. Make this a daily practice, turning affections to God in a deeper way, rooted and grounded in the love of Christ. God is inviting you to join Him. You don’t have to be flawless in the pursuit of God. The fact is, you should be emotionally present in the process of pursuit. Enjoy every moment of the pursuit. Refuse to keep a scorecard of the measurement of how spectacular the event with God is, and move to the intimacy of being present with the Lord. You will find great joy and contentment there.

 

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I want to have the deepest bond with You. I will give You the time and the attention. I meet with You to share my worship of You. You are worthy of my time and attention, whether I feel or encounter anything or not.  I ask You to help me be present as I wait on You. Help me to simply enjoy the process of pursuing You. Move deep within my innermost being, giving me the resolve and restoration of my soul to You.

DECLARATION:

Jesus is the true vine and My Father is the vinedresser. Therefore I Abide in Jesus, being emotionally present in time and proximity, and Jesus in me. I cannot bear fruit of myself, no matter my education, gifts, talents or hard work. Fruitfulness cannot happen unless I abide in the vine, in Christ. Jesus is the vine and I am the branch. DAY 13 - IT’S TIME TO TAKE DOMINION!

Did you know you HAVE spiritual authority? Did you know that God is not going to do what He gave you to do? You have been given spiritual authority to rule over your life, enforcing in this fallen world the Redemption that Christ legally wrought for you. Spiritual authority means you rule submitted to and under the authority of God. Spiritual authority means you establish God’s will on earth as it is in heaven. 

For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 NKJV

Did you know ALL the miracles of Jesus (there are 34 case studies) were executed without one record of “petitioning the Father God” in prayer TO DO them?  And did you know the first century Apostles miracles (there are 14 case studies) were executed without one record of “petitioning the Father God or Jesus" in prayer TO DO them? ALL 48 miracles (Jesus' and Apostles) were executed through spiritual authority.

Prayer, in terms of partnership with God, is obviously invaluable to walking in authority. Most people think of prayer as asking God to DO IT. Spiritual authority is God asking YOU to DO IT. We can’t do this without a living partnership in God’s anointing. What is amazing is that YOU ARE ANOINTED and have been given the delegation to exercise authority over your life. This is a supernatural exercise; it brings supernatural results.

There is no doubt Jesus and the apostles all communed with God the Father in an ever-present reality. There’s no question there was an ongoing unbroken bond with the Father, with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But there is a difference in living in the richness of heavenly relationship, and then stepping WITH that partnership to execute spiritual authority for miracles. Jesus, in his earthly ministry, and the early disciples knew what the logistics of authority and where responsibilities had fallen. God delegated authority to believers and then believers executed that authority. They knew there was no need, in fact it would be inappropriate, to "ask" God to do the things He gave believers responsibility and equipping to do. In the corporate world of business this is called “boomerang delegation;” where an employee delegates their responsibilities back up the flow chart. If it is dysfunctional in the business order it is equally dysfunctional in the spiritual order.

In these 48 different individual cases, not one of them did Jesus (or the Apostles) petition God for a miracle. Not one. Every single time there is a communication, decree, or command of authority that is the precursor to the miracle.

Maybe, while we are waiting on God to sovereignly answer a prayer, God is expecting us to engage our spiritual authority by taking dominion over the situation at the same time. Most of us can envision taking responsibility over natural things, or even to do physical work for God. But for many to envision God giving us authority and responsibility to work miracles hits the choke point.

How in the world could we ever be responsible to work miracles? This is why Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to indwell and immerse us. Remember, even Jesus said, "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works (John 14:10 NKJV).”

Just because this has never been your experience doesn't mean that it isn't God's vision and calling in your life

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I set my heart in honor of what Christ has done in Redemption for me. Since Redemption requires that I execute my free choice to partner with You in spiritual authority I surrender to You in exercising it. This is my worship to You. Help me become proficient in taking my position as a King, decreeing Your will over my life. When I don’t feel like I have authority or don’t feel worthy, I will shift my eyes on You. I will move in authority because You are worthy!

DECLARATION:

I have been made a King and a priest unto my God (Rev 1:6; 1Cor 4:8). I have received the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness so I step into my Redeemed position to rule and reign in my life (Rom 5:17). My feelings do not determine my kingship. My rationale doesn’t determine my kingship. Christ, through Redemption, has established me as a king. So I honor Christ’s Redemptive work by fully stepping into acts of authority today. I will speak to mountains and they will obey me (Mark 11:23). I will resist the devil and he will flee from me (James 4:7). I will decree a thing and it will be established (Job 22:28).

DEVO: 

Are you supposed to protect yourself and your own interest or does God want to be your security?

The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2 NKJV

At times - like the falling of the terrorist-targeted Twin Towers, tsunamis hit southeast Asia, hurricanes hit major cities, news of rapes, carjackings and a plethora of other human sufferings - many pause and assume “God's will” HAS played out before their eyes. Experience is never a good indicator of God's will. It is a travesty to even consider that a God Who Loves deeply would either perpetrate or permit such painfulness.

The greatest way to discover God's will is in His Word. The greatest clarity of God's will within God's Word is through the lens of Redemption, or the Atonement. If Christ accomplished something in Redemption, it is no longer dependent on Divine spontaneity or even a "promise;" Redemption makes everything a "FACT" in the mind of God. And Divine protection is a fact in God's Will for us.

According to Deuteronomy 28: 15-17,38-40, the curse of human suffering was an equal part of God's broken law: rape, sudden ruin, robbery, victimization, injustices, child abductions, cruel oppression, natural disasters, etc.

God’s people did not encounter the Deuteronomy curses because of His neglect, nor because of His causative will desiring their suffering. Inherent within God's laws are the blessing and cursings. Of course engaging laws in obedience produces blessing, and disobedience produces human suffering. In Deuteronomy God is simply warning the people He loves that judgments come when spiritual laws are broken. The curse wasn't a personal attack from God, nor was it neglect, but a process that happens when laws, spiritual laws, are disregarded. The law itself brought the judgment/curse. Similar to how a violation of gravity isn't a personal vendetta from God; the law itself holds the judgment.

But remember that Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13-14). So it is an established fact that God ALWAYS "wills" to protect us, which is necessitated by His nature of LOVE. Today we engage laws of Redemption through grace and faith. God's will "being done", and our engaging spiritual laws of grace and faith to overcome, are not always in sync. But they are designed to be. That is our responsibility.

Receive God’s provision of protection for you and your family. Declare it and establish God’s will on earth as it is in heaven!!

 

PRAYER:

Dear Lord God, I surrender my thoughts and beliefs to Your Sovereign reign over my life. You have revealed Your will to be my (and my family’s) security. I will not any longer be my own Protector. In honor to You as the worthy God You are, I give you full dependence as Guardian. Whether I am awake, asleep, at the wheel or as a passenger, I am always the Apple of Your eye. I rest in You!

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

21 Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing. 22 I am sending him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage you.

23 Peace to the brothers and sisters, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.

Did you know that you are ALREADY prosperous??? No, I don’t mean in a minimizing or non-material way. Prosperity is IN you because of Christ’s Redeeming work. This prosperity is to invade your life in every area, giving you the wherewithal to fulfill your assignments with great joy and abundance. It is first spiritual, emotional/psychological and then it IS material.  

In the same way that healing is a Redemptive fact, an impassioned demonstration by Christ at Calvary, so is God's supernatural provision for our lives and callings. Prosperity is best defined as having unlimited available resources to do everything we are called to do. Redemption makes this a fact, not just a promise, before we ever face a spiritual, emotional or financial need. We should never wonder at God's will to give us an abundant supply. We don't wait on experience to confirm God's will after we pray. In fact we really don't need to pray for financial/material things; we should engage laws of the Kingdom and execute authority over them in the earth.

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith...And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal. 3:13,14,29)

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law! What is the curse of the Law? The only way to find out is to go back to the Law. The expression "the Law," as found in the New Testament, usually refers to the Pentateuch, or the first five Books of the Bible. As we go back to these books—or the Law—we find that the curse, or punishment, for breaking God's law is highlighted most often in three simple areas: poverty, sickness, and spiritual death.

According to Deuteronomy 28:15-17, 38-40, the curse of poverty was to come upon people if they disobeyed God’s laws. It was a curse that would come upon them because they failed to observe all His commandments and His statutes. This wasn't a show of God’s revenge or retribution; but man, in violation of God's spiritual laws, engaged the judgment/curse that was inherent within a law. In Deuteronomy, God is simply warning the people He loves that judgments come when spiritual laws are broken without repentance. The curse wasn't a personal attack from God, but a process that happens when laws are disregarded. The law itself brought the judgment/curse. Similar to how a violation of gravity isn't a personal vendetta from God, the law itself holds the judgment.

Jesus gave us progressive revelation of this by sharing, "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day (John 12:48 NKJV).”

The Apostle Paul also says, “[But] we know that the judgment (adverse verdict, sentence) of God falls justly and in accordance with truth… 12 …all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law (Romans 2:2, 12).”

Within the violation of the law is the curse of that broken law. The curses are physical, emotional/psychological, material/financial and social. But Christ has Redeemed us from the curse of the law. So Christ has Redeemed us from physical, emotional/psychological, material/financial and social need.

In today’s devotional emphasis, Christ redeemed us from the curse over our financial/material needs and desires. In Christ we have unlimited available resources we can access at anytime through exercising spiritual authority. Paul said, writing to the Church at Philippi, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Jesus Himself said, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these (material) things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, I receive my salvation in full. Help me understand and see the full Redemption Christ paid for me. Help me comprehend that I am “rich” and can access all your unlimited available resources anytime. Teach me how to think right about these truths, believe right and walk out the abundance of your grace. I receive the blessings of Abraham and believe that everything I set my hand to prospers in Jesus Name!

DECLARATION:

Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Christ has redeemed me from poverty. Christ has redeemed me from sickness. Christ has redeemed me from spiritual death (Galatians 3:13; Deuteronomy 28). For poverty He has given me wealth, for sickness He has given me health, for death He has given me eternal life (II Corinthians 8:9; Isaiah 53:5-6; John 10:10; John 5:24). There is no lack for my God supplies all of my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). The Lord is my shepherd and I DO NOT WANT. Because Jesus was made poor so that I, through His poverty, might have abundance. For He came that I might have life and have it more abundantly (Psalm 23:1; II Corinthians 8:9; John 10:10).

DAY 10 - HEALING FOR THE BODY AND MIND

DEVO: 

The question of "can" God heal our bodies, emotions and hearts is solidified in God's very nature; God is All-powerful. But the often-asked question, "Is it God's WILL to heal ME," keeps people from boldly walking out God's gift of love to them.

For many Christians, the question of God’s willingness to heal ME is ONLY answered in spontaneous experience; they ask, and then wait for a limited time for an experience of healing to confirm His will. If they aren’t healed, they assume it wasn’t God’s will to heal them. If they had experienced a manifested healing then it would have been affirmed as God’s will. The authority of God’s will lays only in post-prayer experience. To crown our experiences as the will of God is to exalt the value of experience above all other revelation, including God's Word.

Yet none of us approach living righteously this way. What if a person prays, "God if it is your will for me to live righteously, then I expect a special manifestation, a robotic control, over my flesh's impulses"? Of course this would allow that person to excuse their excesses. They would then be permitted to say "Well it must not be God's will for me to live righteously because that wasn't my experience after I prayed." Of course this is ridiculous reasoning and bad theology. There has to be a greater revelation than our experiences.

The greatest revelation given to man about God's will is God's Word. God's Word defines God’s will through the lens of Redemption, or the Atonement. If Christ accomplished something in Redemption, it is no longer dependent on God’s spontaneous sovereignty, or even a "promise." Redemption makes everything a "FACT" in the mind of God. This is a result of God’s legal nature being satisfied in Christ’s death and resurrection. What Christ DID in Redemption forever echoes God’s unchanging will as being “DONE.”

Theologians Guy Duffield and N.M. Van Cleave stated it like this:  “The most positive answer to the question concerning God’s will with regard to healing today, is found in the relationship between Divine Healing and the Atonement. …[the] heart of the matter centers around the questions: 'Did Christ make special provision for the healing of the body? Is this blessing included in the Atoning Sacrifice which He made on Calvary’s Cross?' We believe that the Bible teaches that this is so.” (Is 53:3-5; Matt 8:17; 1 Pet 2:24)

So when our prayer requests seem unanswered, we should address that problem with other assessments. We never have to question God's will on the matter again because of Redemption. We never need to pray for healing by asking "If it be your will" on issues that Redemption has already accomplished. (But we do pray "If it be your will" about personal issues that are related to personal direction, decision making or wisdom). The question of "WILL" God heal or bodies, emotions and hearts is cemented in God’s very nature; the nature of LOVE! Knowing that God's will is ALWAYS "YES!" stimulates our faith to receive!

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, I receive Christ’s Redeeming work for me. I exalt the Word of God and the revelation of Redemption as my highest authority concerning You. I receive my healing, restoration, renewal and strength.

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

DECLARATION:

DEVO: 

Because of Redemption we are who we are “in Christ.” When we begin to think right, it can retro fit our beliefs. As a man thinks in his heart so is he.

“In Christ” is a legal position that describes our "rights and privileges" we have because of Redemption. Any time you see the phrases "in Christ," "through Christ," "or in Him", etc. you are reading what is an accomplished fact. Redemption has made God's will legal, or in congruence with all of God’s very nature. So the examples below are what God wills and what Christ has already been accomplished for us. Today, just receive these as God's gift for you and lay hold of them by faith. It is done!!

WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST:

I AM LOVED:

  • I am loved. (1 John 3:1)   

  • I am a child of God. (John 1:12)   

  • I am accepted. (Ephesians 1:6)

  • I am forgiven. (Colossians 2:13)

  • I am cleansed. (Revelation 1:5)

  • I am redeemed (1 Peter 1:18-19)

  • I am chosen by God, holy, and dearly loved. (Colossians 3:12)

  • I am someone who has somebody who cares (1 Peter 5:7)

I AM HOLY:

  • I am set free from sin and a slave of righteousness. (Romans 6:18)

  • I am a temple, a dwelling place of God, His Spirit and His life lives in me. (1 Corinthians 6:19, 1 Corinthians 3:16)

  • I am united to the Lord and am one spirit with Him. (1 Cor. 6:17)

  • I am more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37)

  • I am prosperous and successful in whatever I do. (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:3)

I AM EMPOWERED:

  • I am part of the true vine, the life and power of Jesus flows through me. (John 15:5)

  • I am an expression of the life of Christ because He is my life. (Colossians 3:4)

  • I am a partaker of Christ, I share in His life. (Hebrews 3:14)

  • I am a partaker of the divine nature. (2 Peter 1:4)

  • I am anointed. (1 John 2:20)

  • I am an overcomer. (Revelation 12:11)

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, open my understanding, my deep thoughts of the heart, even my unprocessed memories to the revelation of who I am now “in Christ.” By Your Spirit (The Holy Spirit) help me to transition my innermost and compelling thoughts to be “in Christ.” As my heart is transformed by this powerful work my emotions and actions will become totally free in every situation of life. Thank you for great help!!

DECLARATION:

I am a new creation in Christ, I am His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. Therefore I have the mind of Christ and the wisdom of God is formed within me (II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; I Corinthians 2:16). I receive the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of my understanding being enlightened. And I am not conformed to this world, but am transformed by the renewing of my mind. My mind is renewed by the Word of God (Ephesians 1:17-18; Romans 12:2). I will do all things through Christ which strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).

DEVO: 

REDEMPTION - WHAT IS IT?

In short, it is simply what Christ legally did for us to bring us back to God. Redeem means “to purchase, or buy back”. You don’t have to buy what you already own. When Adam sinned he became the slave of his new master Satan. Satan owned humanity. We had NO RIGHTS or PRIVILEGES. Satan is the only entity that could direct the quality of our slavery. God loved us so much that He set a plan in order to redeem humanity. His plan was from the foundation of the world.

Ephesians 1:7 NKJV In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.

Titus 2:14 NKJV …who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed (SIN) and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 

REDEEMED FROM SIN

We are redeemed from all of our sin—both the original sin nature of Adam, and our individual sins. We are forgiven for our past sins, our present sins and our future sins. We are forgiven for our little sins and all our big ones. We are forgiven for our one-time sins and our habitual sins. We are forgiven for all of our sins!

Since we are forgiven for our sins, and sin brought wages and consequences, legally God's will is established that we be free from sin AND its consequences. So what are sin’s consequences? The consequences are that wherever there’s unrepentant/unatoned sin in Scripture, there’s also spiritual, physical, psychological/emotional, relational need. However, wherever there’s obedience or atoned sin, there’s also freedom, wholeness, strength and prosperity in these areas. This being true, the forgiven Christian, having the whole of his or her sin abolished, is positioned for supernatural peace and wholeness. The will of God for you and I to be free is an accomplished fact; because it is a fact it is no longer to be viewed as a "promise." We’ve been made free from sin; we’ve also been made free from spiritual, physical, psychological/emotional, and relational need!

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, I set my heart on Your revelation of Redemption. Today I receive that Redemption. I receive the forgiveness of sin. I receive your freedom from sin’s consequences; I am free from spiritual, physical, psychological/emotional, and relational need. I am legally free because of Christ!

 

PRAYER PLAN:

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. DECLARATION:

Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law. Christ has redeemed me from poverty. Christ has redeemed me from sickness. Christ has redeemed me from spiritual death (Galatians 3:13; Deuteronomy 28). For poverty He has given me wealth, for sickness He has given me health, for death He has given me eternal life (II Corinthians 8:9; Isaiah 53:5-6; John 10:10; John 5:24).

Have you turned your heart to God as a consistent exercise? Turning to God with our hearts opens us to God’s renewing and transforming grace. When we talk about “repentance,” we are not espousing perfection; we are espousing faith and affection to submit to God.

Only God can change a human heart. All human behavior, pain and suffering begin with a human heart. On the other side of that, a heart that is overwhelmed by affections towards God will see victory, joy and peace.

2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

Our hearts are aware of relational offenses we have perpetrated against God’s will. Even more technically our brain’s capacity to remember and process emotion will produce static that is often interpreted as “God is distant” or “God is withholding affection to me.” Reality is, God is affectionate toward you even while you are in sinful and rebellious behavior.

Our repentance means that we are now in process; repentance “leads” us to freedom. To “lead” represents a process in our human perspectives. The process is not about God calibrating what we have done, but our own conscience, heart and neurochemistry reconnecting with God. Sometimes it takes time for our heart to be reconditioned so that we have an unfiltered, authentic connection with Christ. Clearly this isn’t because of God’s side of the relationship. God is not withholding affection and wants that reconnection more than you do. Repentance encompasses our spirit, soul and body.  We are simply processing through the emotions of what we have done in the sight of our loving and holy God, and then turning our whole affection towards Him in fresh surrender.

Because of Christ, sin doesn’t change God’s affection towards us. Yes, God hates sin. Sin is incompatible with God’s own nature of holiness. Sin corrupts and destroys. God hates sin because of what it does to us, the focus of His love. God hates sin while being affectionate towards those who sin. This is only possible in the light of Redemption, what Christ did for us at the Cross and Resurrection.

To overcome this relational static with God, and to live in complete harmony with God, it is important that we submit our heart and will before Him. This is how we healthfully re-surrender to Him and access grace for behavior/heart transformation (otherwise known as repentance). Repentance is turning away from our own sin and resourcefulness, and turning to God.

No Shame - Refuse to allow yourself to feel shame. God sees shame as destructive to you. Shame is about “who” you believe you are. Guilt is about “what” you have done. Shame is subjective and based in interpretations. Guilt is objective, you either "did it" or “didn’t do it.” Because guilt is only about what you have "done," you can move forward without being anchored to the past. Shame destroys hope. Guilt makes for awareness of the need for transforming grace. Some people avoid Devotional Quiet Times because they are disgusted with themselves and can’t bear to face a Holy God, feeling that the shame they feel towards themselves is the shame mirrored in God. NOT SO!! Come to the joy of the Lord and let Him remove your burden of shame!!

Acknowledge Guilt - Sincerely confess (acknowledge guilt for what was done) and transfer to Christ anything disobedient that is weighing down your conscience.

Embrace the Gift of Grace and Righteousness - Let the gift of grace, the gift of forgiveness, the gift of righteousness and God’s good mood towards you cleanse you; you have to receive His gift of forgiveness and righteousness. To lean onto your feelings that you aren’t sincere or forgiven now is to disregard the power of Christ’s redemption. Your feelings of condemnation and guilt are simply your brain’s hormones releasing, based on and in harmony with your thoughts. If you think God is mad at you, your emotions and physiological feelings will mirror your thoughts; even if they are false thoughts. Begin to rejoice over your freedom, forgiveness and God’s good mood towards you and your brain’s hormones will support it with feelings. If we intentionally embrace our sins shame and guilt we magnify our sin as being superior to Christ’s Redemptive blood. The gravity of our sin can never be compared with the excellence of Christ’s gracious gift. It is an utmost honor, a magnifying worship to God, to accept His gift of forgiveness and salvation.

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, I turn to You with my affection. I decisively turn away from sinfulness and turn my trust towards You. I cannot fix myself. So I put my faith in You that You are the Author and Finisher of everything that pertains to me. My part is to put my affections on You and trust Your transforming work in me. Thank You for loving me, being unrelenting in Your affection towards me. You are my safe place!

DECLARATION:

My heart is being transformed, and my desires are fully after God. I present my body to God. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, Who dwells in me. I am not my own. I am bought with a price. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, I refuse to follow after fleshly impulses. Sin is no longer my master. I am a slave of God, righteousness, and holiness. The zeal of God consumes me. Did you know that if you “receive the abundance of grace”, everything in your life changes???

What is Grace? Traditionally, we define grace as “unmerited favor.” Literally, grace is an empowerment or an enablement to fulfill the plan of God. Upon dealing with the “thorn in the flesh,” Paul prayed and heard these words from Jesus. They give great insight into grace.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NKJV 9 And (Jesus) said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This “strength” that is made perfect in weakness is translated from the Greek word “dunamis.” We derive our English word “dynamite” from “dunamis,” and it literally means “miracle power.” It’s the same word translated as miracle power throughout Scripture in reference to delivering demoniacs, healing bodies, the ability of God’s Word and so on. It gives the image of God’s Omnipotent ability. Jesus said that “grace” is the miracle ability or power of God, revealed in our human weaknesses!

When God extends His saving grace to us, it’s God’s power to save us (since we do not have the power to save ourselves). Grace is the power! Even our ministry offices are called “graces.” No matter how smart a person is, his/her natural abilities will always fall short when helping hurting people. It takes the power of God to truly minister to the needs of humanity, and He enables us to do so by His grace! 

The only way to short-circuit grace, which God unrelentingly provides towards us, is for us to strive meritoriously, trying to gain God's favor by our perfections, achievements and moral goodness. This nullifies the miracle power of God in our lives. But if we simply receive the gift of grace by faith we enter a miraculous salvation and lifestyle.

Galatians 2:21 AMP …I do not set aside and invalidate and frustrate and nullify the grace (unmerited favor) of God. For if justification (righteousness, acquittal from guilt) comes through [observing the ritual of] the Law, then Christ (the Messiah) died groundlessly and to no purpose and in vain. [His death was then wholly superfluous.]

Grace must be “received.” You have to decide, reach out by faith and receive grace. This means that when you “take” it you may not feel it. You just begin to walk in the grace by faith. You declare you have great grace. You expect it to be present in the time of need. God doesn’t automate grace into our lives; we must receive it.

To power-emphasize what grace will do in our lives the Apostle Paul said this:

Romans 5:17 NKJV For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Receive God’s grace right now to face everything you have in your life. You won’t just survive, you will REIGN!!!

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, You are the source of my everything. I give you my heart. Help me walk out this “receiving” of grace. By faith I now receive your grace; your power revealed in my human weakness. I believe that today I will reign in life as a king; that I will walk in ability and authority over every element of my life. Thank you God for giving me the victory in Redemption. I worship you with my submission to this truth.

Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, 5 for each one should carry their own load. 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God.

17 From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

 

DECLARATION:

Today I receive the grace of God and walk in it. No matter what I need or what season of life it is, I find the grace to help me in my time of need (Hebrews 4:16). No weapon formed against me shall prosper, for my righteousness is of the Lord. But whatever I do will prosper for I’m like a tree that’s planted by the rivers of water (Isaiah 54;17; Psalm 1:3). I am delivered from the evils of this present world for it is the will of God (Galatians 1:4). No evil will befall me neither shall any plague come nigh my dwelling. For the Lord has given His angels charge over me and they keep me in all my ways, and in my pathway is life and there is no death (Psalm 91:10-11; Proverbs 12:28). I take the shield of faith and I quench every fiery dart that the wicked one brings against me (Ephesians 6:16).

DAY 05 - NURTURING HUMILITY

How are we supposed to become humble? How do we impact our hearts so that it will respond to God in authentic surrender?

James 4:10 NKJV Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Psalm 35:13 NKJV I humbled myself through fasting.

All through Scripture we are exhorted to "Humble ourselves before God." This is something YOU do. Sometimes we ignorantly ask God to take our pride away. But pride is something you GIVE up. God doesn't TAKE it from you. It is a choice.

What is humility? Humility is dependence on God. It's not just thinking less of yourself. It is thinking of God, His Word, and His Ways INSTEAD of yourself. If God says something about you, it is humility that embraces that truth as being absolute. Pride, on the other hand, continues to push your intellect, experience and academia forward for consideration. Humility declares, "I am what God says I am!", Pride says, "Not so fast, you might NOT be what God said, and here is why…."

Humility towards others is thinking of others in preferential ways and acting in their best interests, instead of your own. Humility is never putting yourself down or being self-deprecating. Humility is honoring God with the greatness He has put in you and others, and then preferring others with grace (strength in their own weaknesses).

Humility is bold and uncompromising about truth. Humility doesn't refuse praise, it is just honest about both strengths and shortcomings. You can receive praise from people as a relationally bonding exchange (even God rewards and praises us for our choices), but then turn your heart’s affection to God knowing He is the real/honest source (by His grace) of even your choices. And humility is equally honest about when you have failed and need to apologize. Humility is simply a realistic/Biblical view of yourself.

One of the greatest qualities a person can develop is humility. When humility is present, grace multiplies. When grace multiplies there is supernatural and miracle-working power to engage everything in life. When you think of the huge category of character, think of the simple concept of developing humility. The greatest in the Kingdom of God will be the ones who are most developed in humility. So, you can be great, know you’re great and be humble; you can know that humility brought grace and grace brought greatness.

So how do we grow in humility?

First, you choose God’s Word as your final authority for life, thinking, believing and acting. This puts you in a position of surrender to God. Secondly, you exercise your heart by serving others with joy. This requires that you point your brain, mind, heart and emotions towards people you are serving. By being present emotionally, you will release chemicals in the brain and process the heart to consider others interests as more important than your own.  Finally, by understanding “boundaries”, you’ll know what you want and don’t want, who you are and who you are not. This is important because humbling ourselves, and someone else making us be subservient, are totally different things. Once you are clear on who you are, you can serve gladly as you come to understand you chose to humble yourself and that you weren’t made to.

All of these things being exercised in our lives works out our hearts, just as physical exercise works out our bodies. Over time, growth and development happen.

Decide today that you are going to work on humility of heart, enjoy great grace and see God in people you have never seen before.

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, submit to the authority of your WORD as my final authority in life! Give me the strength to turn away from all other authorities that compete for my loyalty. Prompt me to serve other people today with joy, being emotionally present towards those I serve. Give me revelation of how to set boundaries so that I can decisively exercise my heart in acts of service. Help me process my heart in exercises that make my heart look like yours. I receive!

 

PRAYER PLAN:

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

7 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.” 10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

 

DECLARATION:

God’s grace, His power revealed in my human weakness, is surging through my spirit, soul and body. I am of God and have overcome him (satan). For greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world (I John 4:4). I will fear no evil for thou art with me Lord, Your Word and Your Spirit they comfort me (Psalm 23:4). I am far from oppression and fear does not come nigh me (Isaiah 54:14). I am a doer of the Word of God and am blessed in my deeds. I am happy in those things which I do because I am a doer of the Word of God (James 1:22).

DAY 04 - CONTROL AND PRIDE

DEVO:  

How much are you still trying to control life? What does that say about your heart? Is your heart really in a surrendered posture before the Lord? Today you can make some decisions to turn your heart to the Lord, allowing His grace to transform it.

1 Peter 5:5 NKJV Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to [your] elders. Yes, all of [you] be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."

Do you try to control everything in your life? Control is a symptom of pride. Pride is the elevation of one's own essence (intellect, creativity and power) to control something. Pride is dependency on oneself, rather than God.

We express pride by:

  • Lust for power (politics, business, class warfare, gender warfare, church leadership, relationships)

  • Independence and rebellion again leaders and government

  • Selfish ambition

  • Competition and comparisons

  • Excessive jealousy

  • Anger

  • Etc.

Most people trivialize pride in themselves. It is always someone else who has the issues of pride. Scripture speaks to the gravity of pride's fall out, "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18)."

The primary reason pride is so destructive is because it places dependencies on one's own abilities, resourcefulness and protection. This is blatantly independent from God's abilities, resources and protection. You can't neglect issues of pride and think you will live in great blessings.

The good news is, while we cannot transform our own hearts, God wants to give us a heart-overhaul, cleansing us from pride. While you soak in worship, prayer and Bible reading be sure to surrender your heart again to God. Remember, when you see things about your heart you don’t like, that YOU can’t change it, only God can. So, spend time letting God overwhelm your heart with His amazing grace! Remember this is a process, not an event.

Take the Pride Assessment to have an honest look at where you are. But don't be discouraged, great grace is being accessed in these days of fasting. God isn’t looking for perfection or performance on your part; He is looking for trust and dependence on Him. Only God can change your heart!

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, I surrender my independent attitude to You. I ask You for strength to turn from my own self-sufficiency to complete and absolute dependence on You. Where I have pride and urges to control, I ask You to wash through me with Your grace so that I emerge transformed and in the heart-image of Christ. I receive Your works in the very core of my personality. I will wait on You, abiding in Your presence, until my heart looks like Your heart. I receive!

21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

24 These things are being taken figuratively: The women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27 For it is written:

“Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.”

28 Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29 At that time the son born according to the flesh persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30 But what does Scripture say? “Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman’s son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman’s son.” 31 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

 

DECLARATION:

I humble myself before God. God is multiplying grace into my life (1 Peter 5:5-6). I release all self-sufficiency and trust in the sufficiency of Christ. I now have all sufficiency in all things and abound to every good work (2 Corinthians 9:8). I live in every favor and earthly blessing coming to me in abundance (2 Corinthians 9:8 AMP). Today God is lifting me up, promoting me in the anointing and making breakthroughs where it was previously impossible.

DEVO:  CONSIDER THE HEART

What do you want God to do in your heart? The heart of a person represents their entire personality. Theologically, it is where the spirit (where we connect organically with God) and soul (mind, will and emotions) intersect. Everything we do in life comes from the energy of the heart, good or evil.

The prophet Jeremiah revealed that the heart is fundamentally corrupted by the original sin of Adam.

JEREMIAH 17:9 AMP The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! Who can know it [perceive, understand, be acquainted with his own heart and mind]?

We learn the expansive expressions from the heart in the following examples:

  • Calloused (Matthew 13:15) / Tender

  • Hard (Mark 6:52) / Soft

  • Distant (Mark 7:6) / Close

  • Doubt in (Mark 11:23) / Faith in

  • Unbelief (Mark 16:14) / Believing

  • Slow (Luke 24:25) / Quick

  • Troubled (John 14:1) / Restful or Peaceful

  • Sorrow filled (John 16:6) / Joy filled

Jeremiah later prophecies again about God GIVING us a new heart. The implication is that it is impossible for a person to change their heart without Divine intervention.

Jeremiah 24:7 NIV I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

A new heart comes by God’s grace. When we spend time surrendered to God, soaking in time and proximity, the grace of God overcomes and transforms our hearts. One way to soak in grace is to dedicate ourselves to a Biblical fast.

JOEL 2:12-13 AMP Therefore also now, says the Lord, turn and keep on coming to Me with all your heart, with fasting

Even “old” followers of Christ need “new” hearts from time to time. Take time today to treat your heart as your greatest commodity. Surrender the heart to God. Read Scripture, soak in worship, be authentic and with time and proximity to God, let Him give you a new heart!

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, give me a new heart!! I know this is more of a process than a gift. Give me the courage and intensity to spend time with You in Scripture, worship and bonding. I receive your grace today to have a NEW heart, a heart that is fully given to you!

 

PRAYER PLAN:

10 For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” 11 Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because “the righteous will live by faith.” 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, “The person who does these things will live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

15 Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” [i] meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.

19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

23 Before the coming of this faith, [j] we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

 

DECLARATION:

God is giving me a new heart and putting a new spirit within me. He is removing the heart of stone and has put His Spirit within me, moving me to follow His decrees and to carefully keep His laws (Ezekiel 36:26-32). Today my heart is being infused and possessed by the Holy Spirit as God gives me the “will” and the ability to perform His will (Philippians 2:13). I delight myself in the Lord and He is giving me new desires in my heart (Proverbs 37:4).

DAY 02 - THE LOVE OF GOD - GOD LOVES YOU!!!

DEVO:

God LOVES you. God LIKES you. God is in a GOOD MOOD towards you.

A lot of people will boldly believe that God LOVES them, but they have an inner nagging that questions whether He really LIKES them. They struggle to believe that God is ever presently PLEASED with them. The tension is rooted from ideas that God can't be PLEASED with a person who has rebelled against Him. Even after a person receives their forgiveness, the fact that they have failed on multiple occasions can still make them feel that they are more of an irritant and frustration to God than a treasured child that He dances over.

If our sinlessness is the predicator of God's PLEASURE over us, what is the statute of limitations – what is the expiration date of our sin? How far does our rebellion have to be removed from God before He can be PLEASED with us again? Is it a day, a week, a month… assuming that we don't rebel again in that period?

The problem is that when we hesitate towards God's disposition and expression to us, our hearts respond sluggishly. When we see Him in all His GOODNESS and FREEDOM delighting over us, we are compelled to turn our affections toward the refuge of His love. If we can view God as benevolent, excited and in a good mood towards us, even our brains are nourished. When we view God as punitive towards us, we become damaged in our neurological pathways. Our emotional, biological and spiritual lives exponentially flourish at a healthy belief that God LOVES us, LIKES us and is in a GOOD MOOD towards us.

Even if you have been making poor, rebellious and hardened choices right in the face of God, He still LOVES and LIKES you and is in a GOOD MOOD towards you. He hates the choices you are making, but that is because those choices have inherent destruction in them; so, God hates what those choices do to the Apple of His eye in you!

Today, spend a few extra moments considering the depths of joy, the smiles, pleasure, energy, hope and peace God effuses over you.  Romans 5:8 NKJV But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

 

PRAYER:

Lord God, strengthen my heart today to receive Your love, the abundance of your grace and the gift of righteousness. Make my mind at ease that Your justice has been satisfied in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. You have called me to You. You find intense pleasure as I turn my heart and unfiltered affections towards You. I trust you today!!

 

PRAYER PLAN:

Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. 2 I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. 3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek. 4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves. 5 We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.

6 As for those who were held in high esteem—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—they added nothing to my message. 7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised, [a] just as Peter had been to the circumcised. 8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles. 9 James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. 10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along.

11 When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray.

14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? 15 “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So, we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

17 “But if, in seeking to be justified in Christ, we Jews find ourselves also among the sinners, doesn’t that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18 If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker. 19 “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

 

DECLARATION:

It is true unto me according to the Word of God. (Psalm 119:25) I delight myself in the Lord and He gives me the desires of my heart. (Psalm 37:4) In all my ways I acknowledge Him and He directs my path. (Proverbs 3:6) The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. (Psalm 138:8)

DAY 01 - WHAT ARE YOUR DESIRES FOR FASTING?

DEVO:

Do you realize God wants YOU to “ask” Him for outcomes? While God is a caring Father, He has given the responsibility of prayer for experiences with Him and miracles from Him to US.  Our number one goal is to PURSUE God with our undivided and focused energies. He has revealed a way we can do this through fasting.

Scripture shows us that God expects fasting to become a “normal” part of our intimacy with the Lord.  Jesus said, “Moreover, WHEN you fast...”. He said “WHEN” not “IF.” A God who radically loves you, and has made Himself vulnerable (desiring to be known) assumes that you will SEEK Him. And because we know He is “worthy” (that His very existence commands our esteem) we worship Him in actions of pursuit. We demonstrate our love, desire and worship by simply arranging our schedules and disciplines to “follow hard” after Him.

Any goal setting during a spiritual fast must begin with pursuing God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength (Luke 10:27). If fasting gains us nothing more than the benefit of “GIVING” to God a season of unfiltered chasing after God, for HIS benefit, it is a profoundly valid reason. God asks us to pursue Him because He is God, nothing more and nothing less. But when we pursue Him with HIS benefit in mind, we also find ourselves encountering a God that radically transforms us from the inside/out!

In preparation for a spiritual fast it is a powerful thing to preset a small series of goals that you want to achieve. As a result, you will have prepared your heart to expect some things, and you will know when you have succeeded. You will have exact points to celebrate as you see your life glorifying God, and God showing up with unforgettable encounters! To help you evaluate your needs/desires during the fast, maybe you should engage an assessment tool to put a spotlight on areas you aren’t yet aware of. Before you jump over to the assessment tool, it is important that you remember that no matter how many areas you NEED God’s grace in – highlighted by the assessment – that God LOVES you, God LIKES you and God is in a GOOD MOOD towards you.

PRAYER:

Lord God, help me to keep my heart and my spirit pure before you. You want me to “ask” for outcomes when I pray and fast. I am asking you to:

BIBLE READING:  Galatians 1 (NIV)

1 Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— 2 and all the brothers and sisters[a] with me, To the churches in Galatia:

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being. 17 I did not go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.

18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas[b] and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. 21 Then I went to Syria and Cilicia. 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. 23 They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” 24 And they praised God because of me.

 

DECLARATION:

My heart is being transformed, and my desires are fully after God. I present my body to God. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in me. I am not my own. I am bought with a price. Therefore, in the name of Jesus, I refuse to follow fleshly impulses. Sin is no longer my master. I am a slave of God, righteousness, and holiness. The zeal of God consumes me. Every competing desire is burned up in my fiery desire for Christ. I have been baptized with the Holy Spirit and fire, and this fire burns up the lustful passions of the flesh. I live in the supernatural power of God’s grace to resist temptation. Through my relationship with Christ I am delivered from the body of this death. O’ happy, enviable, and victorious man/woman that I am. I walk in the Spirit and do not fulfill the lustful desires of the flesh. I daily bond, and have “koinonia fellowship” with Christ, abiding in Him as the Vine, and I am the branch. I am therefore bearing an abundance of fruit that abounds to God’s glory. I am possessed by the resurrected Christ; with my spirit, mind, will, emotions and body under His transcendent control. Body, settle down in Jesus name and conform to the Word of God. I mortify the desires of this body and command it to come in line with the Word of God. (Psalm 37:4-5; Romans 5-8; Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 6:19)

 

WORKSHOP SATURATION:

Workshop Saturation is when we take spiritual topics and listen to them until they change the way we think, believe and live. Many of us have approached God, His Word and teachings like other academic pursuits, to gain data-knowledge. Saturation is when we are focused on BECOMING the truth we are learning. It’s when the Word becomes a part of your very personality, extracting the spiritual substance within the text.
